I want to take the time out to thank God for giving me 2nd chances, I am forever so grateful. Recently, I learned that not everyone believes in 2nd chances and you won’t always get a redo. I’m so thankful for growth, each day I strive to be a better person than I was on yesterday. I’m thankful that I am no longer the person that I was in my 20s but one thing that will probably never change about me is that although I’m thankful for where I am today, I will never forget where I came from, all of it has made me who I am today. Thankful for those close to me that do not judge me by my past.
Thankful for those that acknowledge that no one is perfect but we all have to be held accountable for our behavior and actions. Thankful that I am not condescending nor do I associate myself with those types of people. You know, the ones that have NEVER done any wrongdoing nor any of their family and friends have ever done any wrong and they look down on those that have. Regardless of my past, I’m here today standing before you as the Phenomenal Woman that God has called me to be. Against all odds.
Thankful to Maya Angelou for writing this poem and for inspiring me as a teenager and as an adult.
Phenomenal Woman
